Smolensk Lake Area Natural Park has launched an environmental campaign for planting green spaces, timed to coincide with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory in 1945. Forest plantings will be located outside the village of Pokrovskoe near the Green Height where fierce battles took place between the soldiers of the Red Army and the Nazi invaders in March 1943. The battles were deadly and violent, the front line went through the villages of Pokrovskoe and Praniki. According to senior residents of the Pokrovskoye village, the most violent battle took place at the Green Height, where every meter of the ground was covered with the bodies of dead soldiers. The Memorial Cross was erected at the Green Height in memory of the fallen defenders of the Smolensk land, and the forest on an area of 12.3 hectares will be planted here on the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.
Your forest will definitely grow — a forester will look after it for five years after planting
If a forester is unable to plant a forest here due to force majeure, we will find a similar area
